Kolkata, Aug 8: Kolkata Knight Riders have emerged as the frontrunners to sign Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya ahead of the IPL 2027 season, with Chennai Super Kings also reportedly interested in the India all-rounder.
KKR are believed to be keen on Pandya as they look for an experienced Indian captain following Ajinkya Rahane’s retirement. His ability to contribute with both bat and ball could also help fill the void left by Andre Russell.
CSK are reportedly exploring a deal involving Shivam Dube, Dewald Brevis and around ₹10 crore in cash, after Mumbai were said to have sought young batter Ayush Mhatre.Lucknow Super Giants have also reportedly entered the race and could offer Pandya the captaincy along with a package worth around ₹25 crore. However, Mumbai Indians have denied that any trade talks are currently taking place, saying the franchise is still conducting its post-season review.Pandya returned to Mumbai in 2024 and took over the captaincy from Rohit Sharma.
